UPDATE: Harvin to undergo surgery Monday; James Wilson staying at UF

HARVIN WILL HAVE SURGERY ON MONDAY:

Coach Urban Meyer said Friday that UF wide receiver Percy Harvin will have surgery Monday.

Harvin will travel to North Carolina for the surgery, which will be performed by foot specialist Bob Anderson.

Meyer expects to have the sophomore back by June, or July at the latest.

"It's not a career-threatening injury," Meyer said Friday. "It's a very minor surgery … probably an eight-week recovery, and then he'll be full speed for off-season.

Harvin was at Friday's practice in sandals and refused interview requests.

JAMES WILSON STAYING AT UF:

Redshirt freshman offensive lineman James Wilson confirmed reports Friday that he has decided to remain at UF after previously requesting his release to transfer. Wilson said before the beginning of spring practice that he was interested in transferring, with Wake Forest being a top possibility.

Meyer had refused to grant the release until after the spring in hopes of keeping the standout lineman in Gainesville. It looks like his plan worked.

Wilson practiced with the Gators for the first time this spring.

"Six months out is a long time," Wilson said Friday. "I got really depressed and just didn't feel part of anything. Once I stepped back out on the field, everyone welcomed me back with open arms."

Wilson's decision to stay came as news to Meyer.

"Did he tell you that? I haven't asked," Meyer said after practice Friday. "I've just been letting him go. If you have good kids in your program, then things usually work out."
