Student senators unanimously passed a resolution at Tuesday's meeting requesting that the UF administration consider more voices when making decisions about budget cuts.

The resolution expresses the discontent of senators and students who see future faculty layoffs and program eliminations as placing UF further from its commitment to diversity.

The resolution will be presented at the Faculty Senate meeting today.

The proposed elimination of the Vietnamese and Korean undergraduate language programs offended some senators, who said the growing economies of those countries will continue to enhance their global importance. Sen. Megan Vu warned that if the elimination occurs, other language programs could be affected in the future.

Voting on Cabinet appointees was on the meeting's agenda but was delayed until Tuesday's meeting after it was pointed out that the Replacement and Agenda Committee had not approved the appointees' applications before they appeared before the Senate. It would have been against Student Body statutes to confirm the appointees.

Student Body President Kevin Reilly sent the Cabinet hopefuls away with apologies for their wasted time.
