Week after week, you have heard me preach about bold colors for summer, and this season's nail shades are no different. Think of the colors you would use to highlight bold terms in your textbook. For those of you who like to keep the bright colors on your toes only, you are in luck, because white nail polishes are also in for summer.

I never thought I would be a supporter of white on my nails, but when applied correctly and with the perfect tan, it looks fabulous. My discovery occurred while I was interning in New York this past summer. Everyone in my office looked like they had Wite-Out over their nails.

At first I was skeptical, but I was told that in order to be considered a true New Yorker, I had to try their summer go-to item: white nail polish.

There are many whites to choose from, but I am a fan of the ones with a bit of a pink undertone that look a little iridescent in the bottle. Essie's "Heavenly Harp" and "Imported Champagne" are a perfect back-from-a-weekend-on-South-Beach feel.

One of my all-time favorites is OPI's "Italian Love Affair." Every time I swipe it across my nails, I am instantly reminded of being on vacation because it is the shade I wear every Spring Break. I love this color because it goes with any outfit and is the most perfect shade of baby pink in the entire world. I believe every girl should own a bottle, if not 10.

Essie's new neon collection features four of the hottest shades this summer: yellow, orange, purple and pink. With names like "Short Shorts" and "Mini Shorts," you can't help but feel ready for the beach.

I love all of the shades equally, but some of them should not be worn together. For instance, you don't want to be the girl with bright orange toes and highlighter yellow nails. However, a purple and pink combination can be quite flattering.

I'm all about taking fashion risks, but in moderation. Happy shade hunting!
