HOOVER, Ala. - Five straight losses to end the season are never good. For Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks fans, it was awful.
Spurrier was the final coach to speak at SEC Media Days, though he wasn't wearing Under Armour or a visor or picking up cell phones and saying, "Yeah, this head ball coach," or "He ran a what?" or "I told you he could really go."
Spurrier is looking forward to the next three or four years. He commented that when he went to Florida, the team was already there. But at USC, he has to build things up. Things take time. And with his solid recruiting class, things are looking up for the Gamecocks, who are one of three teams in the Eastern Division to never have won the division.
He also answered a question about the possiblity of UF quarterback Tim Tebow winning another Heisman trophy.
"I don't know," Spurrier said. "He certainly could, I guess, if he runs for five touchdowns a game like he did against us.
"It may be hard just because voters think, 'He's already won one, let's give it to the other guy."
