BOBBY CALLOVI
Pre-game Notes: Tonight is the home opener for the Gators and will taking on Central Florida. It is a rematch of last year's round of 32, when UF defeated UCF in 0-0 in a shootout.
Katie Fraine will be starting in goal for the Gators.
Half 0-0: Due to a leak in the ceiling here in the pressbox, I had to move my computer which caused me to take most of the first half to get back online and wasn't able to keep you updated at home.
But here is a quick recap of the opening half:
The Gators out-shot the Knights 4-3, but only one shot for the Knights was on goal compared to the three for the Gators.
UF's best chance came 33rd minute when Ameera Abdullah placed the ball right in front of the goal on the left side for Tahnai Annis. UCF's goalie Aline Reis was able to get to it but unable to control it. Leaving Annis open to take a shot from about 2 yards out but she shot it just wide.
Other than a long-shot by Lindsay Thompson, there were no other threatening chances for either team.
As long as this flood cause by the leak does not cause my computer to be shorted out, I will be sending out more updates in the second half.
