GPD arrests teenage trio using stolen credit card

Three boys were arrested early Thursday in connection with a $779.26 attempted charge on a stolen credit card.

Three boys attempted to buy more than $700 in clothing and the clerk noticed a woman's name on the credit card, a Gainesville Police report stated.

When police arrived, two of the boys were being held at the checkout, and one was hiding in the back of the store, it stated.

The credit card belonged to UF sophomore Patpilai Kasinpila and had been used about an hour earlier to purchase a candy bar at the same Wal-Mart, it stated.

Two of the boys, ages 15 and 16, were arrested on charges of grand theft and credit card fraud, the report stated. Information on the third was not available.

They told police the credit card came from a purse they had stolen earlier in the evening at The Estates apartments, it stated.

One boy had two credit cards, a Starbucks gift card and a Blockbuster gift card, which had all been in the purse, the report stated.

The second had a small tin of mints that he told police had also come from the purse, it stated.
