Gainesville Police have released pictures of a woman who could be connected with a recent string of muggings.
The woman in question was shown on surveillance cameras using a stolen debit card at the Wachovia ATM on Northwest 13th Street at midnight Aug. 28, GPD spokeswoman Summer Hallett said in an e-mail.
"We want to make contact with her to find out where she might have gotten the cards from," Hallett said.
Hallett said police have been unable to release a description of the woman, who was wearing a long floral dress and a blue head scarf in the picture.
Investigator John Pandak said the woman could be connected to five or six muggings that have occurred in the midtown area since August.
The most recent happened early Tuesday at 3200 W. University Ave. when a credit card, cell phone and about $50 in cash were stolen from a 19-year-old woman, a report stated.
Most of the victims have been walking home alone early in the morning, Pandak said.
"College students are being targeted," he said.
