A man turning himself in to police Monday night took two others along with him.
Brandon Tyler Blume called the Gainesville Police to turn himself in on a warrant of violation of probation, said GPD spokeswoman Summer Hallet.
When police arrived at Oxford Manor at 4:06 a.m., Blume told them he saw two men walking around the parking lot, peeking in car windows and trying to open car doors, a police report stated.
Police spotted two men hiding behind two cars and noticed that they fit the description given by Blume, the report stated.
The men, Matthew David Stout, 18, and Ryan Matthew Jones, 19, were arrested on charges of attempted burglary to a vehicle, the report stated.
Stout told police they were looking for friends but later said Jones was searching for cash and iPods, the report stated.
Jones said that he was trying to figure out whether the cars belonged to his friends, the report stated.
At first, he told police he didn't try to open the cars, but he later said he tried to open them without success, the report stated.
All the car doors were locked, Hallett said.
