When spring Student Government elections arrive next year, three more seats will be added to Student Senate than are available in next month's upcoming election.

There are currently 47 senators, but a bill passed at Tuesday's Student Senate meeting will increase the number of members elected in each election by three.

The change in the number of senators will even out representation for some schools at UF that have been underrepresented in the past, said Sen. Thomas Cockriel, Judiciary Committee chairman and Gator Party member.

Senators also approved the $13.6-million Activity and Service Fee budget under Student Senate's charge for the 2009-2010 academic year.

The budget will be reviewed again at next week's meeting before final approval.

"The big three is finally done," said Student Body Treasurer Paul Drayton.
