81–year–old woman robbed in front of her house

An 81-year-old woman was knocked down and robbed in front of her house Tuesday night, a Gainesville Police report stated.

Lucretia Lewis was walking up to her door at 800 N.E. 22 St. about 9 p.m. when a man knocked her to the ground, the report stated.Lewis told police she dropped her purse and screamed, GPD spokeswoman Summer Hallett said.

According to the report, the man picked up her purse and ran south with another man, who stood waiting for him on the sidewalk. Lewis' neighbor heard the scream and ran to help her up, Hallett said.

The neighbor brought Lewis into her house and called police, she said.He did not come out in time to see the robbers, she said.

The men are described as between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 4 inches in the report, and police estimate they are between 16 and 20 years old.

One had short hair and the other might have had dreadlocks, the report stated.

It was unknown how much money was taken, the report stated.
