A couple woke up early Saturday to see a man's head peeking through the bedroom window.
Police arrested the man, Angel Fuentes, 25, on a charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling after the couple, an off-duty law enforcement officer from Orlando and his girlfriend, heard a noise about 5 a.m. outside the girlfriend's apartment, according to a Gainesville Police report.
The officer noticed Fuentes, who had opened the bedroom window of the apartment on Northwest 23rd Boulevard.
When the officer and his girlfriend got out of bed, Fuentes left the window, the report stated.
The officer stepped outside and saw Fuentes had removed a screen from another bedroom window on the other side of the apartment and tried to enter.
He then saw Fuentes go back to the first window and attempt to crawl into the apartment, where the officer's girlfriend and her roommate were, the report stated.
The officer detained Fuentes until GPD arrived.
Fuentes told police they had arrested the wrong person, the report stated.
