UF student charged with stealing beer from Sweetbay

A UF student was arrested after her purse, with identification, was found at a grocery store from which she was accused of stealing beer.

After entering the Sweetbay Supermarket at 2002 S.W. 34th St., two women went into the rear storage area and tried to place a keg into a shopping cart, according to an Alachua County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

When they couldn't lift it, one of the women went back into the store and placed three 24-packs of Natural Light into the cart and walked to the storage room.

The woman then lifted the cases out of the cart and left the store through the back emergency doorway which activated the alarm, the report stated.

When a clerk went to the storage room to investigate what triggered the alarm, he found the cart with a woman's purse inside it.

According to the report, the purse belonged to Tami Breshe, 21, and contained her U.S. passport and Gator 1 Card.

ASO officers arrived at her house, arrested her and charged her with theft.

According to the report, she would not tell officers who the other woman was.
