Bank customers unaware of discreet robbery

A man robbed a Gainesville bank Tuesday by discreetly approaching a teller and handing her a threatening note.

The robbery was at the Campus Credit Union Bank at 1200 S.W. Fifth Ave.

"She did exactly what we would have wanted her to do," said Gainesville Police Department spokesman Keith Kameg. "She gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and he left walking in the northerly direction."

Kameg said the man was so discreet that the witnesses in the bank didn't even know a robbery was taking place.

The man, described as being bald and in his forties, was wearing a gray shirt and sunglasses.
