Students expressed their concerns over cockroach infestations, stress and the national debt at the Wall of Worries Thursday afternoon.
The event, which was put on by Student Government's Disability Affairs Cabinet, took place on the Plaza of Americas and was held in honor of UF's Disability Awareness Month.
Andrea Perez, a women's studies junior, wrote about her battles with stress on the wall.
"Even though I have tried to stop, I just can't break the cycle," she wrote.
Perez took some time to put her worry on the wall, adding she already goes to the UF Counseling Center on campus. She said events like the Wall of Worries help students to know they are not alone.
Caroline Robichaux, director of Disability Affairs Cabinet, said mental disabilities are the second-largest registered disability on campus.
She said the idea behind the Wall of Worries and the other events is to raise awareness and inform students about mental and physical disabilities on campus.
Students who contributed to the wall were given tea and peppermints to help ease the stress they were under.
"It's different," said UF sophomore Stephen Holmgren. "I can't say I have seen anything like that before."
Holmgren said he is worried about the national debt.
He said it's a problem that our generation is going to have to worry about and eventually pay off in the future.
The campaign will cost SG about $1,500, Robichaux said.
Accent and SG have also arranged for Louis "Twitchels" Centanni to speak on Oct. 21. Centanni was profiled on MTV's "True Life: I have Tourettes." Centanni's appearance will cost about $2,500.
A Halloween carnival will end the campaign Oct. 29 from 12:30 p.m. to 2p.m. The carnival will raise money for 15 students at the Sidney Lanier School, a school for people ages 3 to 22 who have disabilities.
