Student Government senators allocated more than $5,000 to UF organizations at their meeting Tuesday night.

They unanimously approved a bill giving $1,790.34 to the Gator Skim Club.

The money will be used for the club’s travel to the beach for practices and tournaments.

Senators also allocated $415 to Orange & Blue Archery and $2,865 to The Gator Salsa Club, which will be used for the club’s “Welcome Back Salsa” event, according to the bill.

The Student Senate also passed a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the College of Engineering during Tuesday’s meeting.

Senate President Ashton Charles, who represents the Unite Party, said the senators made efficient use of their time.

Jonathan Ossip, the Senate leader of the Student Alliance party,  said the Senate will be discussing more legislation at the next meeting.

“Our party’s planning on bringing two pieces of legislation next week,” Ossip said.
