Brunch is back, baby. No longer reserved for bourgeoisie and soccer moms, this two-in-one meal unites the sweetness of breakfast with the substance of lunch. Whether you’re getting the family together or dragging yourself out of bed after a Midtown rage-fest, brunch will satisfy all your dietary needs.

How it began:

According to food historians, brunch got its start in Great Britain and used to be an exclusive marker of the upper class. Only wealthy people could afford to spend hours meandering through a multiple-course meal. These origins may explain why Americans often go out to brunch during Mother’s Day festivities to pamper the No.1 lady in their life.

Where to go and what to eat in Gainesville:

Luckily Gainesville hosts a wide variety of restaurants that serve brunch for all sorts of occasions. Some of the following restaurants are local favorites while others are chains known throughout the country but each has its own dish for brunch goers to sample.
