We don’t like numbers at The Alligator. In fact, in one of our classes one of us was asked to multiply 300 and 10.
The class had difficulty.
We groan in our liberal arts math classes, and we wonder why anyone would ever want to study engineering, math, physics or anything else that involves equations or other hard things like subtracting.
So, the thought of 1040s, W-2s or 4s or 68s or whatever accountants need to figure out just how much extra money the government took from us during the previous year just hurts our brains.
And today’s the day, ladies and gents. If you haven’t filled your tax forms out, you’re in more trouble than Carlos Dunlap after a few keg stands.
OK, not really — you can file an extension, but you’ll still have to file them sooner or later.
And just in time for the party, the Gainesville Tea Partiers are having a Tax Day rally at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza today to speak up for what’s right — free markets, fiscal responsibility, limited government and fighting against the health care bill that extends medical coverage to 32 million previously uninsured Americans.
In other words, the really important things in life.
And the only reason we bring this group into this Tax Day reminder is Gainesville voters almost elected a candidate that Mohawk-Indian-sorry-the-real-Tea-Party-ended-236-years-ago political group supports, Don Marsh.
Thirty-five votes, before official results of the recount are released, are all that separated Gainesville from electing a Tea Party-endorsed mayor.
So, celebrate Tax Day by thanking those 35 voters and by filling out your IRS-sanctioned forms if you haven’t already.
Oh, and 10 multiplied by 300 is 3,000.
