Student activists met with UF President Bernie Machen again on Friday to discuss their demands for justice after the Corry Village shooting of Kofi Adu-Brempong.

The group of students reiterated their six demands to Machen, said Dave Schneider, an organizer of Justice for Kofi Adu-Brempong.

The meeting showed the students they need to keep pressuring the administration, Schneider said. He said they also need to turn their efforts toward initiating a grand jury investigation into the shooting and persuading the state attorney to drop the charges against Adu-Brempong.

UF spokeswoman Janine Sikes said the university is still awaiting the results of the FDLE investigation. Those results have been sent to the State Attorney’s office and administrators are still awaiting his decision on the matter.

Sikes said that, after the meeting, she thinks students understand the administration is still unable to do more than talk about their demands and at this point in time.

“We’re still in a kind of sit-tight mode,” Sikes said.

The coalition is planning a rally Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Schneider said Justice for Kofi Adu-Brempong will continue to call for justice during the summer and after the results of the Federal Department of Law Enforcement investigation are released.
