After a controversial decision, The Continuum, a graduate student housing development under construction on West University Avenue, won’t be built with city bonds.
The $68 million project will be built on the former site of First Baptist Church, at 425 W. University Ave., and will contain 400 apartment units for UF graduate students.
“[Graduate and professional] students really want to live and work together. This will provide them with a community that has all the amenities for graduate living,” UF Director of Housing Norbert Dunkel said.
UF currently has five apartment complexes exclusively for its 15,000 graduate and professional students.
The Continuum is expected to be open by August 2011.
