Gators March for Babies, a 5K walk sponsoring the March of Dimes’ effort to prevent premature births and other defects, will take place Sunday at 1 p.m.

The walk will begin and end on Turlington Plaza.

The organization’s goal for this year is to raise between $75,000 and $80,000, according to Kyle Croft, the overall director of logistics for Gators March for Babies.

Croft said there were about 700 walkers last year.

This year, the march team is hoping for 1,000.

“We’re a grassroots organization,” Croft said. “We rely on our community to raise funds in support of our cause, not just here at UF, but across the country, too.”
