Gainesville Police Department may be eliminated and put under the control of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. Mayor Craig Lowe and the Gainesville Commission want to keep GPD and are asking citizens to help save it.
“To make sure our voices are heard, we need your help,” Lowe said in a video on the city’s Facebook page.
He encouraged citizens to attend an Alachua County legislative delegation meeting Monday at 10 a.m. at the Thomas Center Long Gallery, 302 NE Sixth Ave.
