Just when Will Muschamp thought he was done building his coaching staff, it looks like another spot might open up.

Florida running backs coach Stan Drayton is expected to accept an offer from Ohio State to become its wide receivers coach, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer. An official announcement is expected by the end of the week.

However, Florida is not confirming the report.

“Coach Muschamp is on the road recruiting, and our coaching staff remains intact at this time,” UF spokesman Steve McClain said.

Along with tight ends coach Brian White and linebackers coach D.J. Durkin, Drayton is one of the three assistant coaches Muchamp elected to retain from Urban Meyer’s staff.

Drayton’s ties to Ohio State stem from his upbringing in Cleveland, where he became a Buckeyes fan.

“How can you not be?” he said to the Plain Dealer before facing Ohio State for the national title in 2006. “You’re surrounded. The Buckeyes are all you ever hear about.”

Since Muschamp hired Bryant Young to become the team’s defensive line coach on Jan. 15 and round out the coaching staff, the Gators have turned their attention to recruiting with National Signing Day on Feb. 2.
