The Gators will head to College Station for the Texas A&M Challenge, a Big 12/Southeastern Conference meet, today and Saturday.

The eight-school affair will feature six top-25 schools on the men’s side and four on the women’s side.

However, the only performances that will concern Florida coach Mike Holloway this weekend will be by those wearing orange and blue.

“The big thing for us is just trying to put our athletes in a position to get better,” Holloway said. “I haven’t really paid attention to the format.

“I just look at the events and see where I can put my athletes and help us get better so we can be ready for the conference and national meets.”

While Holloway said he will keep an eye on the scoreboard, he won’t get too caught up in which team wins the early meets.

The men’s team, ranked No. 1 in the preseason, fell to No. 2 this week. The women’s squad remains unranked.

“I know they’re keeping score, but the only two scored meets we worry about are the conference and national meets,” Holloway said. “So, if the Big 12 wins the meet this weekend, then kudos to them.”
