Valentine’s Day and hazardous material: the perfect match

Every two weeks or so, Gainesville Commission dubs an upcoming week to be “[Insert important issue here] Awareness Week.” 

At the last meeting, the week of Feb. 13 to Feb. 19 was named Hazardous Materials Awareness Week. Usually, this wouldn’t be anything unusual, except for one small fact: Valentine’s Day.

Oh, the irony. While couples across UF and Santa Fe’s campuses will be reveling in their young love, others can enjoy Singles’ Awareness Day by remaining vigilant of dangerous things.

Fear not, though, if students start to speak and act strangely. Try not to panic if you find your own heart and lungs acting up. Just put on a hazmat suit and take your sweetheart out to dinner.

After all, love can be hazardous.
