In the UCF Black and Gold Challenge, two Gators claimed the
latter.
Daisy Glasser and Keely Medeiros each placed first in their
respective events during Saturday’s action in Orlando.
Glasser took top honors in the pole vault (3.80m/12-5.50), while
Medeiros had the best discus throw of the day (51.02m/167-5).
The two victories were very encouraging to head coach Mike
Holloway, who earlier this week expressed his disappointment in how
the women’s team performed during the indoor season.
“As a coaching staff and as a women’s team, we’re going to get
better,” Holloway said. “I give you my word on that.”
In addition to the accomplishments of Glasser and Medeiros, Florida
had three athletes place second.
Claire Spurling was the runner-up to Glasser in the pole vault,
tying for second place with a mark of 3.50m/11-5.75.
Trailing Medeiros in the discus throw was Ashley Miller, who took
second place with a throw of 50.17m/164-7.
Alexis Muniz tied for the second-best high jump score of the day,
recording a 1.65m/5-5 mark.
