Students can say goodbye to standing in the rain and heat while waiting for bicycle repairs.

Student Government's free bike repair service will soon move from the north side of the Constans Theatre to the Outfitter in the Reitz Union.

Nancy Chrystal-Green, who has been an adviser to SG for three years, said the relocation gives the bike repair shop more prominence and a more efficient workspace.

Since many bike parts needed for a repair are sold at the Outfitter, moving the repair shop into the Outfitter will save students a trip.

"We are hoping to streamline the experience for students," Chrystal-Green said.

Chrystal-Green said that to accommodate the bike shop, the Outfitter will be expanded by about one-third and will get a new floor and gliding doors that allow bikes to move in and out of the space more easily.

Renovations to the Outfitter will begin in September, and the bike repair shop will move into its new indoor space between Thanksgiving and winter break.
