The public is welcome to celebrate the memory of UF health education and behavior junior Amy Lakatos at 7 p.m. today at a memorial service at the Reitz Union Amphitheater.

Lakatos, who was 20, died of natural causes Sunday morning.

UF public relations senior Kim Devitt was part of Lakatos' pledge class for the Christian sorority Sigma Phi Lambda.

"We called her the prayer warrior, because if anyone ever needed encouragement or had something going on in their life, she would always be the person to step in and say, ‘Can I pray with you?'" Devitt said. "She was just so wonderful."

This year, Lakatos was named chaplain of her sorority, and hours before she passed away, she was rehearsing her speech, said her mother, Ronnie.

"Amy was our inspiration," Ronnie Lakatos said.
