UF's chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America was awarded the title of this year's "Outstanding Chapter" for the second time since 2005.

The organization made the announcement at its national conference in Orlando, held Friday through Tuesday. The award is given to a chapter which is "outstanding in everything," including membership and national leadership.

"I'm so proud of the chapter," said Kelsey Abel, president of the UF chapter. "It couldn't have been done if everyone didn't take an active role."

Abel said the group's work in hosting PRSSA's national conference this month and winning first place in both the Bateman Case Study and Solar Decathlon competitions this year helped make an impression on the judges.

"I'm inspired by them," said John Wright, dean of the UF College of Journalism and Communications. "They've had outstanding leadership over the past three years."
