During Tuesday's Student Senate meeting, the Senate approved three new senators and two new committee members.

Austin Sutherland is the new freshman senator, Morgan Long is the new pharmacy senator and Sydney Kaplan is the new District A senator.

Senate President Andy Mason said students apply for Student Government positions on the SG website. The online application shows open seats, he said.

After filling in the application, students are interviewed in person by the Replacement and Agenda Committee. Deadlines to apply are Friday at 4 p.m., and in-person interviews usually take place that Sunday, he said.

Mason said seats open up because senators resign or accumulate too many absences. Sen. Sydney Kaplan took the new District A seat because the former senator is spending the semester at sea. The former pharmacy and freshman seat opened up because the senators accumulated too many absences, he said.
