The picture is one of the items on display at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. From one angle, you'll see the American flag and from the other, you'll see immigrants to the U.S.
While this blog does not aim to narrowly define immigration — mainly because no such definition exists — it is intended to provide you with an understanding of immigration by including current facts, a socioeconomic perspective and a human touch filled with anecdotes and personal stories.
Most importantly, this blog will be presented from two lenses, through two writers. This will allow us to define and discover immigration, not just by assigning it a definition and a few fancy statistics, but also by covering its many existing angles.
From my lens, the blog is intended to bring a sense of freedom from typical understandings of what immigration is, who immigrants are and what their experiences are.
As a small part of my mission in life, I hope to challenge typical views of immigration, while providing a plethora of angles from which you can form your own definitions, sentiments and ideologies.
