A man who robbed a gas station at gunpoint Thursday night has not been arrested.
The 5-foot-10 black male came into the Lil’ Champ gas station, located at 2152 NW 39th Ave., at about 9:55 p.m., wandered around the store for about 22 minutes waiting for all the customers to leave, and then pulled a silver revolver on the clerk, according to GPD spokeswoman Cpl. Angelina Valuri.
The suspect was seen in the store four hours earlier, Valuri said. He had connecting sideburns and was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, gray And1 basketball shorts and dirty white Air Force1 sneakers, she said.
The suspect told the clerk, “I’m about to rob you.” He then took about $100 to $150 and fled east down Northwest 39th Avenue, according to GPD.
Two witnesses saw the suspect jump the fence of the Girls Club of Alachua County and run south, Valuri said.
A K-9 unit attempted to track the suspect, Valuri said, but couldn’t.
