This is yet another summer of superhero films. The predictability of Hollywood would be excruciating if there wasn’t so much to look forward to this summer.

For the past few years, Marvel Studios has been putting out superhero film after superhero film for the sole purpose of creating a unprecedented mashup. “The Avengers” is finally being released on May 4, and I anticipate it to be a tremendous success. “Captain America,” “Thor,” and “Iron Man” and its sequel were all well received by audiences, so I would expect this combination to deliver something spectacular to kick off the summer.

I am not too keen on the Spiderman reboot in July. I’ll always feel compelled to compare it to the successful Spiderman trilogy. Tobey Maguire will always be Spiderman to me, and his upside down liplock with Kirsten Dunst is nothing short of iconic. “The Amazing Spider-Man” could outshine the previous Spiderman films, or it could put the character to shame. Time will tell.

The end of July brings what the public will be looking forward to all summer. “The Dark Knight Rises” has been a long time coming, especially after the success of the second film in the trilogy. It’ll be interesting to see if this film will live up to our expectations. The cast looks solid, and I get chills when I watch the trailer, so perhaps this film will shatter records like its predecessor.

The film industry has been producing superhero film after superhero film for years now, but it never seems to get old. These movies are always fun to watch — especially on a summer night.
