Police have identified who stabbed the man found by an off-duty Alachua County paramedic.

The paramedic found an unidentified man stabbed early Monday morning.

According to a press release from officer Ben Tobias, GPD spokesman, the suspect is a 5-foot-6-inch Mexican national between 22 and 25 years old with a slim, muscular.

Though his identity has not been confirmed police believe the suspect goes by the name Ezekiel Lopez.

The victim has been identified, but will remain anonymous because of safety concerns, Tobias said.

The paramedic saw the suspect running at about 4:30 a.m. along the 3000 block of Southwest Archer Road near Tuscan Bend Apartments at 3009 SW Archer Road.

The paramedic called 911.

When officers arrived, they found the man with a deep stab wound in the lower part of his stomach, according to a Gainesville Police press release.

The man was transported to Shands at UF and immediately went into surgery.

The University Police Department was notified and sent out a UF alert by email.

This is the second UF alert of the summer.

GPD is searching the area where the man was found for witnesses who can identify him.
