A Gainesville woman was arrested Tuesday morning and accused of stabbing her husband and trying to flee from officers in an electric wheelchair.

Gainesville Police officers arrested Eloise Sturdivant, 33, at about 10:50 a.m. on charges of aggravated domestic battery and resisting arrest without violence.

According to a GPD arrest report, police went to Shands at UF because Rayme Albert, Sturdivant’s husband, arrived Tuesday morning at the emergency room with stab wounds.

Albert, 45, told police Sturdivant stabbed him twice in the leg during an argument and cut his hand when he reached for the knife.

When officers told Sturdivant she was under arrest, she went “maximum throttle” on her electric wheelchair to flee, GPD spokesman Ben Tobias wrote in an email.

Police grabbed Sturdivant’s arms before she got too far and arrested her.

Sturdivant told police her side of the story, saying Albert kicked her in the stomach with a pair of cowboy boots.

She also said she armed herself with a steak knife and stabbed her husband in self-defense.

Police determined Sturdivant’s injuries were not consistent with her story.

As of Wednesday night, Sturdivant is being held in Alachua County Jail with a bond set at $1,500.
