Living in Florida gets us all excited for fall because it means the weather finally goes below 80 degrees, and we get to throw on a scarf. However, it’s also a chance to welcome trends from Fall/Winter 2012 into your closet.
Colors are the most important part of any fall look. This spring we saw sleek black, electric blue, cool winter white, and surprisingly, burgundy all over the FW12 runway. Yves Saint Laurent had a crazy black leather pant suit number, Giambattista Valli brought back the lumpy sweater, and many designers had burgundy dresses, pants, and skirts. We are also seeing the return of the knee-high boot in Givenchy.
Now we can’t all drive down to Orlando and hit the racks at Mall at Millenia, but do not fret! I have found a few online stores that have the same looks from the runway for more college-budget-friendly prices.
H&M is the number one spot to grab all the runway favorites during any season. It is famous for “fashion and quality at the best price.” They have a high-waist burgundy skirt from its new collection with Lana Del Rey that is very delicious.
SheInside has a comfy round-neck white sweater perfect for fall. Throw it on with the burgundy skirt for a cool semi-formal look that you can wear to work or out to dinner with friends.
Blue and black are back. This Bankfashion.com dress has a V-neckline high enough to be professional, but low enough to stay feminine and flirty. The ruched waist will emphasize your curves with its little black belt.
Keep the electric blue trend going with this little box bag from ModCloth.com. Square, linear and robust bags are everywhere this season.
Add a smooth blazer from H&M to give the dress a professional touch, and keep you warm on those chilly days when you want to look girly. Blazers are investment pieces, and every respectable career-oriented woman should have at least one in their closet. Wear the blazer with black skinny pants, also available at H&M, for a tougher style that says “Don’t mess with me, I’m chic.”
A pair of knee-high boots can be incorporated into any of the outfits mentioned previously. Simple and strong boots will never go out of style. Urban Outfitters has a vast variety of styles and colors, but this knee-high low-heel pair is my pick because it works with an everyday outfit.
Fall is upon us, and it is time to shop! Invest in at least five of these pieces, and you won’t have to hit another store for the rest of the season. You know, unless you really want to.
