You may think that Dexter isn’t the same because of last night’s episode, but no worries, I’m sure it’s just a prelude.
***SPOILER ALERT***
Here is what you missed in a nutshell:
After Debra finds out that Dexter is a serial killer, she starts running away from Dexter and he starts following her. All Dexter wants to know if she is OK. She confronts him about the Bay Harbor Butcher, and he confesses everything about himself. He also confesses that their dad knew about his secret.
After Debra leaves, Dexter’s dad appears in the same room and they talk about what happened. Dexter then realizes the hand from the Ice-Truck Killer case is on his table, indicating someone else was on to him, too.
The next day he goes to the lab to try to find the hand and can’t but finds out that Louis had something to do with it.
Meanwhile, the blood sample LaGuerta found during last week’s episode she looks into to find out more about it, but we still don’t know what her intentions are.
Debra tries to cure Dexter as if he were an addict, watching him 24/7. The cops are still looking for the guys who killed the detective.
Dexter moves in with Debra to try to “get better.” She decides to sets some rules, the first one being honesty. They start to have dinner, and Dexter goes into detail about what it feels like to be a killer. He first talks about blood and how it takes over him. Then he tells her about how his head feels like it is going to explode and that he needs to kill to feel better. After he explains his feelings to her, she tells him that she is doing this for him because she cares about him.
The next day Dexter is able to get away from Debra and goes on a lab job. He is working a body search. He starts talking to the prisoner before they all go on lunch break. During their break, Dexter goes to Louis’ suit to find out what is going on. He finds a video log that Louis did about him, but Louis walks in and Dexter confronts him. He tells him that he never wants to see him again.
Dexter comes back to the job, and Debra goes crazy about where he was. Dexter continues to talk to the prisoner, and he wants to know why is it that he has repented.
Meanwhile, the people who were involved in the detective’s killing are getting worried about the killer’s whereabouts because he is one of them.
When Dexter gets home, he sees Louis at his place after he told him he didn’t want to see him ever again. Dexter decides to get into his place again and sedate him, but then he sees blood.
He drives to the bay and calls his sister because he had the urge to kill and couldn’t. Debra arrives and he tells her that he really wanted to kill someone. She falls for all his emotional talk and leaves. Dexter then takes Louis out of his car and leaves him on a bench.
The next day, Dexter and Debra are back on the search job and talk about people being normal. He starts talking to the prisoner again and tells him that he patched things up with his sister. The prisoner tells him that he had a girl but that it was too late for forgiveness, and all he wanted was some sunshine. Suddenly the prisoner runs in front of a truck and kills himself.
