***SPOILER ALERT***
Contrary to popular belief, life will go on in the "Walking Dead" after the deaths of Lori and T-Dog, and there will be just as much drama as ever.
When we last left off we saw Rick rolling around on the ground in agony after learning about the death of his wife while his son looked on emotionless. While that episode could have been taken as possibly the pinnacle of the show, it appears that the cast has quite a few more twists left in store for us. This time around we find out if a newborn baby can live in such a twisted world, and what kind of person the Governor really is.
It’s becoming more and more evident that Andrea is falling into the same kind of trap that she did with Shane. She keeps getting more and more attached to the Governor and his crew while Michonne is becoming more and more distant. A rift seems to be forming between the two partners. So while Andrea continues to flirt with the men in town, Michonne catches the Governor treating his “walker” daughter to a nice hair brushing session. She sneaks into his apartment to retrieve her sword when she happens to stumble upon something a little more noteworthy: the Governor’s journal. In it is a list of all of the names of the people in the town….and all of the names of the people that the Governor has gotten rid of. Michonne gets trapped inside his apartment where she overhears plans of an “experiment.” As if things didn’t seem bleak enough, she then walks in to find a pack of zombies trapped inside an old warehouse and takes them out with no hesitation. The governor doesn’t exactly take kindly to the murdering of the walkers. After getting close to nothing out of Michonne, he makes a compromise. She can join the “research team” and forget the whole episode ever happened or get out. In what seems to be becoming typical Michonne behavior, she turns her sword on him and storms out.
On the other side of the state (or maybe a lot closer?) we have a meltdown of epic proportions. Rick, who didn’t seem to care much for Lori near the end, has now gone into shell shock over her death and a massive slaughter rampage. He enters into the prison killing anyone in sight without having a single person follow him for back up. While he storms around, Glenn is still showing a hesitation to open up to the new members of the group, Axel and Oscar . To get his mind off of things he goes into the prison to search for Rick. As expected, Rick has seemingly lost all emotions and throws Glenn up against the wall then goes walking off into another dark corridor. At this point it’s difficult to tell who is saner between Rick and the Governor.
The second half of the episode ends rather anticlimactically for a change. After tensions rise more, Michonne finally decides to leave and take Andrea with her. On the way out Merle decides to hold them up for a minute. While Michonne sees this as even more evidence of something a foul, Andrea sees it as nothing and decides to stay and watch Michonne leave alone. Confused and down, Andrea then goes off with the Governor to have a drink at the “event.” That event turns out to be a staged WWE type fight off between the men of the research crew surrounded by walkers. Andrea, less than amused, almost storms off before the Governor holds her back. The seed may have been planted in her mind that she made the wrong choice.
Then, Rick finds the room where Lori gave birth and discovers that the body isn’t there and that there’s a bullet shell on the ground. He walks down the hall and sees an engorged walker sitting against the wall. The walker is too full to move. If you look closely, you can see hair on the walker's mouth and hands, indicating that it ate what was left of Lori. Rick then shoots the walker in the head and stabs it in the stomach multiple times because he knew what happened. After laying dazed on the ground for a few minutes hallucinating, he groggily stands up to realize that a phone is ringing in the room. He picks it up and finds out…that it’s going to have to wait until the next episode.
