It’s that terrifying moment in the morning when you go to your closet and can’t find a single cute piece of clothing to wear to work. You don’t want to pull on those ugly bell-bottomed dress pants, and you certainly don’t want to be clogging around in those hideous chunky, “office appropriate” heels.

Your solution? Go spend some money on just five pieces of clothing for the office, and you’ll have an array of options to wear throughout the week.

Here are a few options of what office-attire essentials you should buy:

  • Patterned or material pencil skirt: It doesn’t matter if you’re a twenty-something or older lady; buying a chic and sophisticated pencil skirt is very timeless and makes you more dignified in the business world. You don’t need to keep buying black or gray skirts—mix it up with a patterned or material design. These skirts can transition to nightlife without making you look like a hussy.
  • Colored Blazer: When it comes to color in the office, some women freak out and think they have to wear somber colors week in and week out. But if you pair a toned-down colored blazer, the added color bespeaks femininity yet still business-like. Some colors that are good to wear this summer are light purple, yellow or even lime green. Just don’t go overboard with the brightness of the color.
  • That Timeless Dress: All women need that dress; and it doesn’t even need to be you typical, go-to black dress either. Finding a sophisticated, patterned dress can, once again, transition into nightlife very easily after work if you are planning to meet up for date night or with your girlfriends. You can easily pair it with a blazer, heels or ditch both and wear it simply with a pair of cute flats. The options are endless.
  • Bold-Colored Heels: Yup, I said it. This is wear you can have the most fun with bursts of color to spice up the office. Stay away from hot pink or anything that screams hooker-ish, but donning a pair of hot red heels is definitely an option. Just remember to pair them with a more toned-down outfit. Some cut colors to wear this summer would be blue, dark green and red.
