Experiencing 'Feel,' new 'Sleeping with Sirens' album

The newest "Sleeping with Sirens" album "Feel," which came out on June 4, 2013 contains a fun track list with energizing, upbeat, uplifting songs.

The American post-hardcore band has so far produced three albums with "Feel" being the most successful. Why? "Sleeping with Sirens" seems to have finally found their own sound, a sound that comprises of positive music that can be appreciated by pop and rock lovers alike.

The combination between the upbeat, quick tempo of the music and the smooth, strained voice of lead singer Kellin Quinn, the album produces a sound that invigorates and vitalizes listeners.

The most well produced song on the album is definitely “Alone” ft. MGK. The song is intensified by the yearning in Quinn’s voice and intricate drumming pattern. In addition, the incorporation of MGK’s rapping further strengthens the power of the song. Not only does it fit perfectly into the song, but it also allows the music more variation and brings it up a level.

The album features three other collaborators including Fronz (Attila), Shayley Bourget (Of Mice and Men), and Matty Mullins (Memphis May Fire).  All of the artists help add to the drama of the songs and freshness of the music. The other singers allow "Sleeping with Sirens" a chance to appeal to a more diverse audience. Although Quinn has a wide range of vocals and a clean voice, he sings mostly on the upper range of the music spectrum. The contribution of other artists allows for a greater mixture of voices like in “I’ll Take You There” ft. Shayley Bourget.

Collaboration is just one part of the reason why the album is such a success. No two songs sound alike on the album. All have their own defining, encompassing sound. Quinn utilizes his entire vocal range. Each song contains a different tempo and beat. The distorted riffs as well as the convoluted drum work add to the energy of the songs. Even the lyrics and themes vary from song to song.

All factors culminate in a well-produced album perfect for all different music lovers. The pop, punk elements make the songs perfect for parties and the rock allows for enjoyable listening at home. The band will also be performing songs off of the album at Warped Tour. "Feel" has allowed "Sleeping with Sirens" to break from restraints and really display their musical abilities.
