'The Last of Us' is a video game masterpiece

Many of us remember the days of the original PlayStation, playing video games like Spyro and "Crash Bandicoot." Well the same company that gave us "Crash Bandicoot," "Naughty Dog, Inc.," has released one of the most amazing video games of the current console generation, "The Last of Us" for strictly the PlayStation 3 on June 14.

When I say this game is amazing, I do not mean like that finale of fireworks you saw at Disney World when you were five, I mean like this game in its entirety is a wonderful masterpiece.

At this point you question, why take the opinion of an ordinary blogger? Because several game publications like Imagine Games Network (IGN) and Game Informer have called it a masterpiece as well.

"The Last of Us" is a survival horror action/adventure video game. The story arc is set in a post-apocalyptic USA a common theme seen in much of Hollywood and video game industry.

The game in question uses a variety of tactics that allows it to live up to the claim of masterpiece. The game is played in a third-person viewpoint and utilizes artificial intelligence (AI). Naughty Dog outdid itself when they included their AI “Balance of Power”, which allows antagonists to react in a realistic manner to the player’s character. The Balance of Power AI allows villains to call for help and locate the player’s weaknesses thereby making the game even harder thereby making it fun.

Then there is the concern about visual imagery within the game. In a world of high definition televisions and 1080p, The Last of Us seemed too real. Visually the game was majestic and captured the player’s attention leaving them in complete awe.

All in all the game deserves a 9.8/10.
