A sandwich restaurant boasting 56 trillion possible sandwich combinations is coming to town.
Which Wich will open in Butler Plaza on Archer Road in October.
Customers can choose from more than 50 variations of customized sandwiches including the signature Wicked sandwich, loaded with turkey, ham, roast beef, pepperoni and bacon. Most cost less than $10.
To place an order, guests use Sharpies to mark up pre-printed bags. They select a protein category and then choose bread, cheese and other toppings.
Kristin Mamula, a spokeswoman for Butler Enterprises, said the restaurant will be a good fit for the dynamics of the area.
“Butler Plaza wanted to introduce Gainesville to this fast casual restaurant with a unique dining experience,” she said. “The addition of Which Wich follows our strategy of bringing many new-to-the-market restaurants and shops.”
Hala Habal, the communications manager for Which Wich, said the chain has an advantage because of the options.
“The things that make us unique are the selection of various toppings and ingredients that we offer, the customization, our bag and the ordering system,” she said.
Which Wich has franchises in 37 states. The Gainesville franchise will be the sixth location in Florida.
“We are growing rapidly,” Habal said. “We just started our international expansion as well.”
Alicia Lew, a 21-year-old UF biology senior, said she would be open to eating at the shop.
“I’m always interested when I hear of new restaurants opening around town,” she said.
