When I Googled the music video for “23,” I saw No. 23 Chicago Bulls jerseys, Jordans, and Miley Cyrus. I wondered, “is this really going to be some sort of homage to Michael Jordan?”

And within the depths of our current twerk-obsessed culture, it kind of was.

The video has four of music’s hottest and “most twerked-to” names at a high school where the dress code seems to be strictly Chicago Bulls, Jordans, and the number “23” attire. They’re rapping lyrics such as “Hit it like a free throw, tongue out like I'm Jordan,” “J's so fly I should work at Flight Club” and “Flu game twelve, Space Jam 11.” It also shows them partying on the school’s basketball court.

With its factors of homage, questionable lyrics, and yet ironically killer beat, “23” is just another club banger, with Michael Jordan’s famous’ number, career and shoe game to thank.

Although curious to what Mr. Jordan has to say about the song, I’ll admit, the video is fly.

You have Mike WiLL Made-It blasting the club beat over the PA system, Miley smoking cigarettes and dancing half-naked in the bathroom, Wiz Kahlifa doing some chemistry and Juicy J getting hot and heavy (with what seems to be a teacher) in the trophy room.

The video plays along to the song’s theme and yet acts true to its rap music video’s nature: by having lots of bling, random homies hyping up the atmosphere, and people dancing in slow motion.

Personally, the song is not my cup of tea. I enjoyed the video, but the song wouldn’t be something I’d get out of my way to listen to. But being the club banger that it is, I know it’ll be one of those songs where I can totally see myself dancing and singing “J’S ON MY FEET!” at the top of my lungs with my girlfriends all night at a club.

The song is fun and the video is even more fun to look at. I’d recommend checking the video out if you’re bored and want to see Miley trying to be ghetto again. If not, continue on. Miley and the twerk team will probably come out with more music or music videos within the month.
