Gainesville Police arrested two Massachusetts men after a traffic stop turned up 16 grams of cocaine, 9 grams of marijuana and two digital scales.

Officers arrested 40-year-old Reginald Presell Goodman and 21-year-old Andre L. Gerhardt on charges of cocaine possession, marijuana possession and drug equipment possession, among other charges.

At about 11:30 p.m., an officer noticed a silver Chevrolet sedan driven by Goodman weaving lanes on Northeast Waldo Road. It made a sudden turn onto Northeast 15th Street, according to the report.

The officer, driving behind him, noticed what looked like the men passing something back and forth, according to the report.

At the traffic stop, Gerhardt had two open cans of Bud Light beer in his hands, and the car smelled of marijuana, according to the report.

The officer searched Goodman and found $2,028 as well as 16.2 grams of cocaine, worth about $800.

A search of the car revealed the 9 grams of weed and a marijuana grinder in the glove box. Two scales with cocaine residue were in the trunk, according to the report. During questioning, both men told the officer they didn’t want to talk about it.

Officers booked them into the Alachua County Jail at about 1:15 a.m., where they both remained as of press time.
