Unfortunately, those of us that are young and in college have the mentality that just like in the fairy tales, our soul mate is going to appear out of thin air and sweep us off our feet. Well, I’m here to tell you that life in fact is not a fairy tale, and your soul mate is just as hopeful as you are.
For the past four weeks I’ve been studying abroad in Europe. I’ve traveled through Paris, London and now Barcelona. When I first signed up for this trip, I had this plan in my head of meeting my “one true love”. Now you may think I’m about to say that this didn’t happen but that’s where you’re wrong. I DID meet him! He was super sarcastic and had a full beard just like I imagined. We talked, joked, and at one point danced all night. Now here’s where I made the mistake: As we were leaving, I didn’t ask for his last name, much less his number. Needless to say, the possible love of my life has come and gone, and is now frolicking through the streets of London without me.
This is why we need to step out of our comfort zone and just go for it. If you’ve been having a good time with someone all night, chances are they feel the same way but are just as nervous about asking for a number as you are. Just go for it people! Otherwise, you’re just going to say goodbye to your bearded man for the first and last time.
