The Starving Gator: How to satisfy the late night sweet tooth

Imagine this: it’s 11 o’clock at night, you’re studying and the only two thoughts on your mind are sleep and satisfying your sweet tooth. Out of luck for both? Wong! While I can’t do anything to help you sleep (keep pushing on, weary student), I can help you satisfy that insatiable sweet tooth. There are two words that every Gator should know: Midnight Cookies.

I can’t say that their cookies and their delivery prices won’t put you back a pretty penny, but their cookies are absolutely worth every single dollar you spend. With a rotating menu of delicious and extremely unique cookies (ice cream cone cookies, anyone?), I have not found a single of their cookie creations to be lacking.

There’s something for the brave taste adventurer (think chicken and waffle inspired cookies) and something for the cookie traditionalist (I have friends who swear by their Snickerdoodles). One of my personal favorites is the Bananas Fosters cookies, which is described on Midnight Cookies’ menu as “a banana flavored cookie with accent flavors of rum extract, cinnamon and toasted walnuts”, topped with a banana and brown sugar to make a caramelized top.

The best part about Midnight Cookies? They deliver right to your doorstep (or staircase if you’re living on campus) and they’re usually open until 1 a.m. or later.

While the price is a bit off-putting–$1.29 a cookie is a bit expensive for anyone, let alone a poor college student– I find that getting an order together with a bunch of friends or neighbors makes the price a bit more bearable. Plus, it’s a great way to know your neighbors, especially in a new dorm or apartment. Bon appetit!
