Students can fuel up on free coffee on their way to class today from local coffee shops participating in National Coffee Day.
The Dunkin’ Donuts on West University Avenue is giving away medium cups of its new dark roast coffee from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., said overnight manager Alexis Lyons.
Krispy Kreme is offering free 12-ounce coffees or mochas, lattes and iced coffees for $1, according to the company website. Kangaroo Express is also selling cups of its Bean Street Coffee for a penny from 6 to 10 a.m.
“This will help us promote our new coffee, and supporting National Coffee Day is always a plus for Dunkin’ Donuts,” Lyons said.
She said students can also enjoy any hot or iced coffee for $1 during happy hour, which is from 3 to 6 p.m. every day.
Meg Marger, 20, said she goes to Dunkin’ Donuts for coffee once or twice a week. The UF English junior said she’d grab a free cup if she’s in the area, but she’d rather pay $1 for happy-hour coffee any day.
“Since it’s all day, there’s a chance I would stop in,” Marger said.
