Treon Harris’ lawyer Huntley Johnson told ESPN.com Friday that Harris’ accuser has dropped her complaint against him.
Johnson told alligatorSports “I am pleased for Treon Harris and his family,” and would give no further comment on the situation.
At 2:34 p.m., the University of Florida released a statement confirming Johnson’s statement but saying that although the complainant is not pursuing criminal charges at this time, she does reserve the right to do so in the future.
Harris’ status for Saturday’s game against LSU will be determined by the University Athletic Association “later in the day,” according to the statement, and a police report will be released when it is completed.
The university’s statement also promised “The university always will take swift and decisive action when we have concerns about the safety of our students.”
UPDATE: Through a spokesperson, Florida head coach Will Muschamp has released a statement late Friday afternoon.
"We have been notified that the University and legal process is complete. Treon has been reinstated to the team, but he will not play Saturday. This has been a learning experience for everyone involved. Treon has been honest with me throughout the process and is looking forward to rejoining his teammates."
