You’re walking with your girls through Midtown, choosing where to go. Shuck and 101 Cantina look too crowded. You finally choose to go to Grog House Bar & Grill. Inside you start dancing and having a blast with your friends when suddenly you see him. He’s looking straight at you, and walking your way. Do you want to dance with this guy? Is he creepy or smooth? Will this be a bad decision later?
We’ve all been there. You go out ready to have fun – the last thing on your mind is whether or not you’ll meet someone tonight. Even if you do dance with him – is it going to be an all-night affair, or do you call it quits after one song?
The first thing you should do is analyze how he approaches the situation. I, for one, hate when a guy just grabs me and spins me around. We are not toys. It is not solely his decision to dance; you have a say too! If he’s the nice guy who approaches you with a, “Hey, would you like to dance?” then it’s time to move on to step two.
While you’re dancing, where is he putting his hands? Pet peeve No. 2: Hands that go anywhere by my waist. Generally speaking, and of course there are guys out there who don’t mean anything by it, he’s probably at Midtown to find more than a dance partner if his hands are all over the place.
At the end of the day (or song, rather), it’s up to you to keep it going. If you’re feeling it, and you two are killing it on the dance floor, keep it up! Sometimes it’s fun to spend the whole night together; that’s how new friends are made. If you’re over it though, don’t be scared to say thanks and walk away. His pride will recover as soon as the next opportunity walks by.
