Florida’s Savannah Jordan has been named one of 16 female semifinalists for the 2014 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in collegiate soccer.
Jordan is one of only two sophomores nominated for the award.
The other 14 are either juniors or seniors, including Virginia’s Morgan Brian, last year’s award winner.
The award is determined by NCAA Division I coaches, who will vote for their top picks between Dec. 2 and Dec. 11.
Fans can also vote online for their top choice.
The three male and female finalists will be named in mid-December, and the winner for each will be named at the banquet on Jan. 15 — in a similar fashion to the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
No UF player has ever won the award.
Jordan led the Southeastern Conference with 46 points and 19 goals this season and was named to the All-SEC first team.
She was also awarded SEC player of the week three times during the year.
She is second only to Gator-legend Abby Wambach in goals scored through her freshman and sophomore seasons combined, and she was also part of the U.S. roster for the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in August.
