Karolina Vlckova, a sophomore from the Czech Republic, will represent the University of Florida women’s golf team at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship on Friday.

The NCAA Women’s Golf Championship will be played in Bradenton at The Concession Golf Club May 22-27.

Although the team’s season ended after shooting 38-over-par during the NCAA Regional, Vlckova will play for an individual title for the Gators.

"It’s an unfortunate end to the year," coach Emily Glaser said in a release. "This team has come a long way since the fall, where we battled through some adversity. The good news is that we learned a lot about ourselves this year as a team."

Vlckova qualified as an individual for the national championship tournament after shooting her season-best round score and finishing 1-over-par at the regional competition.

She placed eighth at Regionals in Raleigh, North Carolina. The top-10 finish for Vlckova marked her fifth top-10 this season and her seventh top-25 finish.

Vlckova led the Gators in both categories and had the best stroke average on the team averaging 73.6 strokes per round.

Her highest finish this year for the Gators was at the SunTrust Gator Invitational where she finished tied for second.

In the last five tournaments Vlckova has finished tied for second, sixth, fourth, 17th and finished in eighth place at the NCAA Raleigh Regional.

This will be the second time Vlckova will play in the NCAA Championship.

Last season, as a part of a Gator team that qualified for NCAAs, Vlckova shot 22-over-par and finished tied for 98th in the final tournament of the season.

"I’m happy for Karolina to be going to Nationals," Glaser said. "She has had a wonderful sophomore season and has carried the team since March. Obviously, it’s bittersweet for her. Karolina is the definition of a team player and played her heart out this week for her teammates."
